While working in the garage a few minutes ago I overhead the tell-talle squawk of the sandhill cranes, and opened the door to find six flying overhead. Unfortunately I did not have a camera nearby. But the birds should continue to descend upon Fairbanks all week, just in time for the festival. I'm looking forward to photographing them as soon as I get a spare moment. Over the last eight years I have taken a number of photos of the cranes; shots from previous seasons can be found here in my Fairbanks gallery.
